FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Wellness has become complicated enough. We prefer to make it simpler.
Below, you’ll find answers to the questions we hear most often—from choosing a cold plunge to understanding red light, creating a recovery space, or simply deciding what’s worth your time.
Aging Bueno
What is Aging Bueno?
Aging Bueno is a curated destination for living—and aging—well.
We bring together thoughtfully selected products across recovery, movement, sleep and longevity, from cold plunges and saunas to red light therapy, compression, massage and intelligent sleep systems.
We don’t believe in filling a store with everything. We believe in finding the things worth knowing about.
How do you choose what makes the cut?
We’re selective.
We look at the technology, construction, functionality, design, research behind the category and, perhaps most importantly, whether something has a meaningful place in real life.
A product doesn’t make the cut simply because wellness is having a moment.
Where do I start?
Start with how you want to feel.
Want to recover better after training? Explore RECOVER.
Want to protect strength, mobility and an active life? Start with MOVE.
Looking at sleep and everyday well-being? Explore THRIVE.
And if you’re still unsure, ask Bueno. Tell us what you’re trying to accomplish, and we’ll help you make sense of the options.
⸻
Cold Plunges
Do I really need to get into freezing water?
No. And colder isn’t necessarily better.
Cold-water immersion creates a significant physiological response, and there’s no prize for choosing the coldest possible temperature. A good routine is one you can use safely and consistently.
Start conservatively, follow the instructions for your particular plunge, and give your body time to adapt.
Why are people cold plunging in the first place?
Cold-water immersion has been studied extensively in sports recovery, particularly for its potential to reduce perceived muscle soreness following strenuous exercise.
There’s also growing interest in the physiological response to cold itself. But cold plunging isn’t a cure-all—and we don’t present it as one.
Think of it as one possible tool in a much larger recovery routine.
Should I plunge right after lifting weights?
Not necessarily.
If your primary goal is maximizing muscle growth, routinely jumping into very cold water immediately after resistance training may interfere with some of the adaptations you’re working to create.
Timing matters. Recovery isn’t simply about doing more recovery.
How long should I stay in?
There isn’t one perfect number.
Water temperature, experience and individual health all matter. Follow the guidance provided with your particular system rather than trying to beat someone else’s time.
Cold plunging shouldn’t be an endurance contest.
⸻
Saunas
Traditional or infrared?
Different experiences. Both interesting.
A traditional sauna primarily heats the air around you. An infrared sauna uses infrared energy and generally operates at a lower air temperature.
The better choice comes down to the experience you prefer, your space and the particular system you’re considering.
Why has sauna become such a longevity conversation?
Because some of the research is genuinely interesting.
Long-running Finnish observational studies have found associations between frequent sauna bathing and lower rates of cardiovascular events and mortality.
The important word is association. These studies don’t prove that sauna alone caused people to live longer.
Still, the findings have made heat exposure an intriguing area of longevity research.
Is sweating a “detox”?
Your body already has an extraordinarily sophisticated detoxification system: principally your liver and kidneys.
Saunas make you sweat. They expose the body to heat. They can be relaxing.
We don’t need to give them magical powers to appreciate them.
⸻
Red Light Therapy
What exactly is red light therapy?
Red and near-infrared light therapy—also called photobiomodulation—uses particular wavelengths of light to interact with biological tissue.
Scientists are studying it across areas including skin, tissue repair, pain and exercise recovery.
It’s a fascinating field, but results depend heavily on the device, wavelength, dose and application.
Red light or near-infrared?
Red light generally acts closer to the skin’s surface. Near-infrared wavelengths penetrate more deeply.
That’s why you’ll often see sophisticated systems combining several wavelengths rather than relying on only one.
Is more light better?
Not necessarily.
This is one of those areas where “more” shouldn’t automatically be confused with “better.”
Use the distance, session length and frequency recommended for your specific device.
⸻
Compression
What’s actually happening inside those boots?
Pneumatic compression systems use air-filled chambers that inflate and release around the limbs, creating a sequential squeezing sensation.
They’re familiar territory in professional sports, but they’ve increasingly moved into home recovery routines.
When should I use them?
After training. On a recovery day. After spending hours on your feet. Some people simply enjoy them while reading or watching television.
The right protocol depends on the particular system and why you’re using it.
Should I turn the pressure all the way up?
No.
Recovery isn’t a toughness competition.
Choose a comfortable setting within your device’s recommendations. Maximum pressure isn’t automatically maximum benefit.
⸻
Massage Chairs
Aren’t massage chairs a little…old school?
Some are.
The new generation is a different proposition.
Today’s sophisticated systems can combine multidirectional rollers, air compression, body scanning, heat, reclined positioning and highly customizable programs.
The category has evolved considerably beyond the vibrating chair you may be picturing.
What does “zero gravity” mean?
Despite the rather dramatic name, you won’t float.
It describes a deeply reclined position designed to distribute your body weight differently while you’re seated.
2D, 3D, 4D—what does any of that actually mean?
Generally, those terms describe increasing sophistication in how the massage rollers move, particularly their depth, speed and rhythm.
Manufacturers don’t always define the terms identically, so we prefer comparing what individual chairs actually do rather than buying based on the biggest number.
⸻
Smart Sleep
Can a bed really help you sleep better?
Your sleep environment matters.
Temperature, light, noise and comfort can all influence sleep. Today’s smart sleep systems can actively heat or cool the bed, track sleep patterns and adjust the sleeping environment throughout the night.
They’re tools—not substitutes for healthy sleep habits.
Is sleeping cold actually better?
Your body’s temperature naturally changes as you prepare for and move through sleep.
For many people, a cooler sleeping environment is more comfortable and can support sleep. The ideal temperature, however, is personal.
That’s exactly where adjustable sleep technology becomes interesting.
Can sleep trackers tell me if I have a sleep disorder?
No.
They can reveal useful patterns. They cannot replace a medical sleep evaluation.
If you’re consistently exhausted despite adequate sleep—or concerned about conditions such as sleep apnea—it’s worth talking to a healthcare professional.
⸻
Creating a Recovery Space
Do I need an entire room?
Not at all.
A recovery space might be a dedicated room—or simply one carefully chosen piece of equipment that you actually use.
Start with your lifestyle and your space. Then build from there.
What would you put in the ultimate recovery room?
That depends entirely on the person.
Someone focused on athletic recovery might prioritize cold, compression and red light. Someone interested in relaxation and sleep might gravitate toward heat and massage.
The most impressive recovery room isn’t necessarily the one with the most equipment.
It’s the one that gets used.
Can Bueno help me design one?
Bueno can help you compare products and think through your goals, available space and budget.
For electrical work, plumbing, ventilation, waterproofing or structural questions, we’ll always defer to the manufacturer’s requirements and qualified professionals.
⸻
Ordering & Delivery
How long will my order take?
It depends on what you’ve chosen.
Some products ship quickly. Larger or specialized equipment may require freight delivery, production time or additional handling.
You’ll find the most current estimate on the individual product page and in your order communications.
Will a sauna or cold plunge arrive like a regular package?
Probably not.
Large wellness equipment often travels by freight, and delivery services vary by product. Curbside delivery, threshold delivery, white-glove service and installation are different things.
Check the delivery details on the product you’re considering so there are no surprises.
What if something arrives damaged?
Photograph everything before disposing of the packaging: the box or crate, shipping label, visible damage and the product itself.
Keep the packaging and contact us promptly. We’ll help you determine the next step.
⸻
Returns & Warranties
Can I return something if it isn’t right for me?
Return conditions vary because Aging Bueno carries products from different manufacturers.
Some products may need to remain unused or unopened; oversized, customized or hygiene-sensitive products may have different requirements.
Please review the current return terms for your product before purchasing.
Who handles the warranty?
Most warranties are provided by the product’s manufacturer, and coverage varies by brand and model.
We’ll help you find the correct information and point you in the right direction if something goes wrong.
One piece of advice?
Keep your receipt, serial number and warranty documentation.
Future you will be grateful.
⸻
Health & Safety
Are these products for everyone?
No—and any wellness company telling you otherwise deserves a raised eyebrow.
Heat, cold, compression and other technologies create real physiological effects. Certain health conditions, medications and pregnancy can change what’s appropriate.
Follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions and, when there’s any doubt, ask your healthcare professional.
Can Aging Bueno tell me what will treat my condition?
No.
We can explain how a technology works, what research has investigated, what a manufacturer says about its product and what questions may be useful to ask your healthcare professional.
We won’t diagnose you or promise that a product will cure a condition.
So what’s the Aging Bueno philosophy?
We like science.
We like innovation.
We also like skepticism.
Wellness doesn’t need more miracle claims. It needs better questions, better information and products worthy of a place in your life.
Our job is to help you find them.
